2010 International Property Rights Index (IPRI)
The OHRID Institute for Economic Strategies and International Affairs is proud to announce the release of the 2010 International Property Rights Index (IPRI), which measures the intellectual and physical property rights of 125 nations from around the world. This year, sixty-two international organizations, including the OHRID Institute, partnered with the Property Rights Alliance in Washington, DC and its Hernando de Soto Fellowship program to produce the fourth annual IPRI.
The IPRI uses three primary areas of property rights to create a composite score: Legal and Political Environment (LP), Physical Property Rights (PPR), and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Public Debate
At the invitation of the delegation of the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-MK and the delegation of the Committee for Foreign Policy in the European Parliament, the OHRID Institute for Economic Strategies and International Affairs took part in a public debate, along with other non-governmental organizations.

International Trade
The international trade volume of the Republic of Macedonia in the period January-December 2009 has been decreased by 28.6% in comparison with the international trade volume in the same period in 2008.
According to the State Statistical Office preliminary data the export value of goods in the Republic of Macedonia in the period January-December 2009 was 2 691 528 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 5 043 115 thousands US dollars. Import coverage with export was 53.4%. more...

Republic of Macedonia was ranked 59th at annual list of world's best places to live which is traditionally released by "International Living" internet magazine. The creators of this list used nine categories in order to make this ranking and those are: cost of living, culture and leisure, economy, environment, freedom, health, infrastructure, safety and risk, and climate. more...
The Death and the Taxes
The OHRID Institute for Economic Strategies and International Affairs, as partner Institute of the think tank International Policy Network from London has the honor to announce the new study which shows that import tariffs on medicines are gradually falling throughout the world, but remain stubbornly high in some countries – acting as a tax on the sick. The global average is now 3.5%, down from 5% in 2005. However, this masks exceptionally high tariff rates in countries such as Iran (30%), Burundi (15%), Nigeria (14.8%) and Tunisia (13%), the study shows. more...

Index of Globalization 2010
Once again, Belgium comes first in the globalization stakes. Austria, which was in 3rd place last year, now ranks 2nd. This year's fast climber is Luxembourg, which advanced from 21st place to 14th place. Switzerland still comes 4th on the globalization index. While economic and political globalization is advancing, social globalization is stagnating. The KOF Globalization Index measures the economic, social and political dimensions of globalization. more...
